“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.”
― J.M. Barrie, The Little White Bird
For sure. We regularly wandering humans are confined in our homes while these small creatures are now able to fly without any disturbances in the environment. Its so pleasing to hear to bird’s chirping all throughout the day while we are in quarantine.
During this quarantine period, the one best thing that has happened is the freedom of the wildlife, birds in particular to fly and explore every parts of our city. It is during these quarantine days , that I listen to bird’s singing all day out, thanks to the total lockdown in our State. I hear different species of birds chirping and can see them making a short stay in a mango tree and flying away. All these can be seen from my room window and these scenes are so fascinating for me.

This is one shot that I will cherish for a long long time. Though I am quite an amatuer in photographing wildlife and specially birds, but I feel proud that I captured this Eagle in Manual Mode and I feel confident that I am mastering the Manual Mode in my camera gradually.
I believe we need to get out of our comfort zone, i.e. Auto Mode and start shooting Manual which gives us the flexibility to play and adjust the Exposure, ISO and the Aperture! You’ll get much more better images than being in Auto mode, I promise.

This is a shot of a Purple Sunbird which wants a taste of this tempting Mango! Capturing these species in your frame is a lot harder as they don’t settle in a place for a minute even and fly off to another branch or trees. It needs a fast shutter speed and ofcourse do I need to remind you that you have to be in Continuous Mode for shooting wildlife or Bird.

I get immense pleasure capturing birds in my frame in a composition that I feel looks stuning. Sometimes its difficult to capture fast moving animals and Birds in a beautiful composition, so I need to capture the bird irrespective of the nature of the composition. But framing a bird or an animal in a perfect composition is the credit of the photographer. The photographer who provides the space for imagination for the viewers to make their own story out of your image by way of composing the image is something which gives that extra boost to your photo.

I literally have spent hours waiting for these birds from my window to capture the perfect shot that really pleases me. It’s worth your time when you love nature and wildlife. Give it a shot now, coz- 1) It is a good way to spend your never ending time of your day, 2) It teaches you a lot about the environment and a ton of knowledge about the birds and their behaviour.

Honestly I have started with a Mobile to photograph Landscape and Wildlife, so you too CAN start with basics. All you need is the passion and love for the Mother Earth and a basic mobile or a camera. As of now, in these lockdown days , just take a look out of your window, I bet you can hear chirping sounds of birds, and can spot them too.. So give it a shot.
